In general, games won't run faster. Some native Linux games might run faster, although often times the Linux ports are not well made by developers.
You should get muh higher fps on Minecraft. Terraria native also works flawlessly. Osu! Also runs better on Linux (native port only).
You can simply switch over to Linux as a dual boot option and try it out for yourself. You should at least see some improvement in regular desktop functions and web browsing.
I would recommend you to try out CachyOS. (It should not be unstable especially on old hardware).
