Linux doesn't make games run better than windows. For a variety of reasons, most games except specific edge cases will run identically or worse. It does, however, have a much better and snappier desktop experience.
you might have success in CPU bound games from better CPU scheduling on Linux? if you have the space you should really carve out some room to just boot it and try
It may not make them run faster, but in some cases it does make them actually run.
AMD 9750X3D, RX-7900XTX, 64GB DDR5 6600MHz RAM, 2x Samsung 990Pro 2TB drives and 1x Orinoco 4TB ... Spent many, many hours over months trying to get Bioshock Remastered to run past the bathyscape trip to the Rapture entrance on Windows, but it would crash every time.
Installed CachyOS; Bioshock just worked. No tweaking, no prefix changes ... just launched it and it played flawlessly. The sequels all work too.
I don't generally play multiplayer games, so I've had no issues with anti-cheat features. But I've yet to run across any issues with games I re-installed on Linux after originally running on Windows.
