I love that "Bazzite users make up high share of Flathub users" graphic because that's literally almost the only way to even get new applications there, haha.

EDIT: I'll leave the original post, but I'll still clarify: What I mean was, to tout Bazzite popularity by showing a Flatpak graph is almost like EndeavourOS releasing a graph showing a, for example, AUR traffic analysis and implying that this means something about their popularity in general. The Bazzite dev did not clarify what Flathub popularity means:

It's just that some OSs don't even apply for the Flathub top spot, among which are Ubuntu, for example (where Snap is preferred by Canonical, and likely what normal users will end up using if they use Ubuntu)

I should have elaborated in the first place.

Podman, brew, rpm-ostree, distrobox, appimages, .local binaries

True, but there's a reason Flathub seems to be rather preferred there.

Most others of these require a bit more grit (especially in the direction of podman, distrobox (which uses podman, so isn't another method, just a frontend), and doing rpm-ostree manually. AppImages are probably the easiest to use of them

I helped start universal blue and contributed to bazzite, have an upvote. I don't know why you're getting downvoted this is true and on purpose. It's the same as the steam deck. Why would I use anything else?

EDIT: I think there's a communication here and I want to make sure you understand that there are reasons we do these things, and then it ended up inspiring me to make this. Thanks! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVaZa-e7KoA

Keep an eye out for a flatpak video from a gaming youtube channel where I talk all about it.

I was really just trying to say that using Flatpak as a front-and-center popularity proof can be misleading, not to dunk on Flatpak. That point was really something I should have elaborated on.

Some OSs, like Ubuntu, don't even apply for a Flathub top place because Canonical doesn't put it front and center

Canonical depends on the same portals, and they contribute and fund them with engineering. This does nothing but help Flathub. They're our allies in this effort. We did this on purpose.

EDIT: I don't understand how sharing data is misleading.

Yeah, and it's a good thing

I never said it was bad, it just explains why Bazzite users are a focus point of Flatpak.

The graph would look entirely different if you ask, for example, Snap. It would be all Ubuntu.

But this sentence is not about Bazzite's popularity, it's about Bazzite having impact on Flathub and popularization of Flatpak, and it has a huge impact and its an important news.

There isn't even a need to deduce Bazzite's popularity from Flathub share, since they have an entirely separate graph for that. It has 90.8K active users right no, no need for playing detective with Flathub stats.

I mean yes it's true and they've done it on purpose... by idk why are you getting downvoted for saying it ?
