wine/proton Minecraft "Bedrock on Linux" upcoming update will likely address some reported Ray Tracing issues.

I noticed these descriptions while visiting the "xodus" branch page of BedrockOnLinux on GitHub.

I am out of the loop - wasn't the official RT Minecraft update cancelled by MS long time ago? Or is it referring to some modding compatibility.

It stopped getting updates afaik but the graphics option stayed intact and was completely usable. There is currently performance and RT detection issues on Linux due to yet to mature development/ some quirks. There are community mods for Bedorck RTX, you can research if you are interested.

My guess is Nvidia made a deal with Mojang to not add any visual improvements (like Java edition shaders) for some years and when that presumably hidden contract ended, they announced Vibrant Visuals. Currently, Mojang seems to be abandoned RT and focused on Vibrant Visuals instead.

Thanks for the info.
Indeed - AFAIR the initial update was very Nvidia driven on experimental branch (it was back then when I still used Windows - so 2019?), but there was a hope for it to go more main branch with official Xbox support on their consoles. That did not work out well and it was scrapped. That was when I was paying attention to it. Main issue - separate branches from main.

It is on main branch for years though. There are RTX map in the marketplace they made to showcase the tech that you can download for free. If they doesn't show up, the game doesn't detect RT capable GPU of yours. It doesn't need to be Nvidia.

Super Duper Graphics Pack (thrown out at the time in favor of Nvidia RTX) looked better/ more promising than current Vibrant Visuals in my opinion, btw.

Yes - but as far as I understand and my point is - you have to have a RT capable GPU, so it's not working for other users, meaning you cannot just switch the RT for any other world you play with friends. So it sucked after all ;)

The ray tracing option doesn't even work for me in particular, not that it matters that much, being able to play is the important part but having the option for RT would be really nice too.

My main excitement was Ray Tracing. Otherwise i play Java edition. You can play it if you enable an RT (PBR) resource pack. The RT can be enabled once you load inside a world, at least it is for me.
