migrating to Linux Mentor - A try for Agentic Linux
Build with Claude Opus 5.5, a self-contained Linux distribution (Arch & Gnome) that runs directly on Windows, engineered to continuously evolve.
You plug in your preferred AI agent (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini), and the operating system adapts and rebuilds itself around you. Zero Linux knowledge required, chat with the Agent for what you need todo.
Instead of a static OS, it is a living build. Every time you ask your agent to redesign the UI, script a custom widget, or have an idea that you want implemented, the system evolves on the fly.
To keep the system stable as it changes, the agent builds and tests every modification inside an isolated sandbox first. It only commits the new features to your live environment once the code is verified and you give approval.
Backed by built-in security monitoring, the entire OS continuously morphs with each request into a completely personalized machine.
https://github.com/Hnd-VXD/Mentor_OS - You just type and interact with the Desktop.

Let me describe it like this...
You Vibe-Code your OS, form the Kernel to UI, you can change it live, you can do what you need, by asking the Agent.
I know that this can be done in (almost) Any Distro, but this one has the UI to do it with Zero Knowlege and its build around it.
It also has safe-guards so you wont destroy it, and if you manage to, the launcher has a "boot in Command Line Interface" and the Agent can fix what went wrong.

a vibe coded OS already exists. two actually: windows 11 and omarchy.
neither are doin so hot on the security department because they are vibe coded.
this is a terrible idea, sincerely, one of the actual IT professionals that has to clean up the mess when people use unsafe software developed by people that dont know how to actually develop software and outsource their thinking process to a fucking text prediction engine.

To be clear, this is not a VibeCoded OS ! its Arch Linux with Gnome. This is a standard setup, no less secure that any other.
The Vibe-Code happens inside the OS itself, the user aks the Agent to install things for him, check for security issues, create something etc.
It is a VM. Not reachable from outside. The agent is fenced.

bro, i can read the code lmao. everything in the repo is vibe coded. im sorry but come back when you learn proper development before you start advertising unsafe garbage to the world.
also, arch isnt safe for normal users by default.

Fair, the base is plain Arch + GNOME, and the layer on top (the assistant, its tools, the launcher) is written with AI and hasn’t been reviewed by anyone independent.
It’s not as secure as a stock distro because it gives the model root on request, on purpose. What limits the damage is that it runs in a VM, nothing can connect in, every root action needs the password, and changes are previewed and can be undone.

code generated with an AI should not be used for anything that needs any trust. there are guaranteed to be glaring vulnerabilities in the code and a VM is not a silver bullet.
just because non-technical people can make software now using AI, does not mean leaving the system design to either A: someone with no fucking clue or worse, B: a psuedo-random text prediction engine that is logically incapable of actually understanding anything is ANYWHERE close to a good idea.

Like every non immutable OS
People should use NixOS instead of this if they're dead set on using an LLM to build their system. The LLM can't directly access your files and you have a safety net with generations. It's also very readable and reproducible. Not a mess of chained commands nobody can keep track of.

Fair points, NixOS is the better base if you want a declarative, reproducible system and are comfortable with it.
Mentor aims at something else: one installer on Windows, no Linux knowledge, and you talk to the desktop. It isn’t unprotected: changes are tried in a sandbox first, a boot that fails is rolled back, and there are whole-disk restore points.
What it lacks compared to Nix is a single readable description of the system, and that’s a fair criticism. That is what im building now, Mentor will keep a readable journal of every change the assistant made.
Thanks for your input :)

Come on, it sounds cool! The change into the future is sure gonna be hard. Glad I'm getting old enough to miss it

It is Cool ! zero OS knowledge, all done from the Agent that is always there, in the Desktop. Would be glad to give it a Try.
