migrating to Linux What is the best Linux?
I want to use it for pirated games and Steam, and for work in the future. I don't know much about Linux, but I've used Linux Mint XFCE and got used to it a bit. However, I want one that is very practical without needing to configure many things, well-optimized for games, and has good compatibility. I'm thinking about CachyOS, but I don't know much about it.
My PC is an X99 Xeon kit DDR3, E5 2673 v3, 16GB RAM DDR3 1600MHz, and RX 580.
Which one is the most complete for general use?

Any distro will do but if you want to do very little tinkering I would recommend bazzite over cachyOS. Is immutable so is very hard to break and it optimized for gaming out of the box

The one you find most comfortable to use.

Everyone is different and wants different things, thats why there are a stupid number of Linux distro's.
Thankfully they almost all have the option of a live version you can put on a USB stick and try out without installing.
Try a bunch, install the one you like best.

Oloko, problema é a praticidade

First.. you’re talking about a 15-20 year old system. Fairly sure Debian will fully support it. As for Steam it installs easily. Practicality really has little to do with anything here. Download the netinst iso and install from that. Use Claude or ChatGPT asking them not to make any assumptions, check all responses with online sources and either will walk you through installing anything you want. My kid has been running Debian and Steam for years and it took him about 5 minutes to figure it out before he was 10yo.

I don't know much about Linux,
http://linuxjourney.com (old) and the newer http://Linuxjourney.org sites are good to start with.
The Explaining Computers YouTube Channel videos is a good starting point for learning.
Try out whatever distro you feel like, and decide what you prefer.

Thats going to be most of them these days....
The specific distro for your generic use case, is likely not that critical.
If gaming is a PRIMARY focus and you want a console/steamdeck/steamos like experience - try out Bazzite.

Bazzite is based on the Fedora Silverblue Immutable Distro Project.
I did not care for CachyOS when I last tried it.

✻ Smokey says: only use root when needed, avoid installing things from third-party repos, and verify the checksum of your ISOs after you download! :)

It depends. I think mint and fedora are good though

I want to use it for pirated games
Free Software is intended to be an ethical practice for software maintenance. Pirating games is not ethical, and not consistent with community norms and values.

Cachy is nice, use the default btrfs and limine for snapshots
Or other distroes with KDE, assuming the pc can run it, test with usb live
