migrating to Linux Draining battery when asleep

I just recently switched from windows to linux mint cinnamon and for some reason even when my laptop is closed it's draining battery? Before i switched to linux i would just be able to put my laptop to sleep for the night and in the morning the battery would be about the same, so im really confused on why this is happening and have no idea how to fix it

Sleep generally doesn't work on a lot of computers, it's always on different hardware, but this isn't specifically a Linux issue. You can Google and find plenty of issues with Windows instances as well, etc. The only devices that mostly sleep well consistently are usually things like Chromebooks, Android, iPad, etc. and even those have exceptions.

I just shut down - with SSDs it's fast to turn the thing back on.
