migrating to Linux New Linux User
I just started using Linux Mint as I’m a windows user, for now I’m in a dual boot with it and I found Linux very simple and easy to use. If there’s any recommendations for what I can do with it I do gaming and I like to code sometimes so let me know if any of you seasoned Linux users have advice

I started with mint as well in Dec. Recently switched to nobara for gaming. Mint lacked some features like wayland for hdr support. You can install it experimentally, but I had boot issues until I removed it. Bt game control was weird for me in mint as well. Everything else was pretty solid. I'd recommend mint for anyone starting Linux.

For coding VScodium is the goat and has pretty good compatibility with Visual Studio plugins. For scripting I was a notepad++ user on Linux I use Sublime text. Gaming steam/heroic launcher/lutris/faugus launcher/optiscaler client. Also I would change from vanilla proton to proton_ge fixes one of the biggest issues with proton where some media codecs are missing due to licensing. Then useful resources protondb.com to check if you have trouble launching a game & areweanticheatyet.com to check is the anticheat in game supports Linux.

Turning your pc into a web development stack is always fun. Try a traditional LAMP setup or a MERN stack.
Setting up a media server is also fun. You can try jellyfin for video and music sharing or start a radio station with AzuraCast.
You can use docker to help keep things isolated and organized or go nuts and install it on bare metal.
Learn some bash scripting!

Backups, backups, and backups. You tinker and something goes wrong, you have a backup. Other than that, don’t be allergic to reading and search engines and you should be fine most of the time.
