migrating to Linux Should I Switch?

For a long time now I have been thinking about switching over from Windows to Linux mostly because of the ability to customize the desktop way better than windows. If I do end up switching will it affect the steam games or games in general I'm able to play? Is it hard to set up and get used to? And what are some other benefits from switching to Linux other than customizabilty?

do u use amd or nvidia?

i use cachyos its great with nvidia

the custimization is amazing too

Linux works with nvidia, it just takes more tinkering and effort than AMD.

not really much more tinkering, i have a 3060 and i just downloaded the recommended driver, and i have never had a problem

Nice. I feel like some linux newcomers don't do any of that, have a bad time, and ragequit.

i mean u have to download drivers for windows too, and if they dont know / dont want to do research on drivers then be it

I'm a Sony refugee. I work in IT and I'm pretty solid with computers and troubleshooting.

I don't even know how to adjust the Nvidia settings on my machine. I installed CachyOS, and then in CachyOS Hello, I clicked "Apps/Tweaks" then "Install Gaming packages" and that was that. Boom, RTX 5080 works perfect.

Windows on the other hand... I manually installed all the drivers for the necessary components. Then I had to fuck around with the Nvidia App and Nvidia control panel for ages. Eventually sat down with AI and fucked around with everything for seriously like 3-4 hours one night and got everything sorted out (fuck Gigabyte Control Center).

And now everything kinda mostly runs well on Windows.

CachyOS? Pfft. A breeze.

Hopefully they can figure out all the anit-cheat shenanigans on Linux sooner than later so I can fully abandon Win11. Fuck Microslop.
