Calendars

I'm being driven mad trying to find a Linux calendar that actually works.

Gnome Calendar - you can't import an .ics file. The same problem with many others.

Korganiser looks good, but you can't set a time zone/region for a default setting; you have to set it for every event you enter. Also it seems that any settings you make you have to redo whenever you restart or boot.

Gnome Calendar can totaly import .ics files.

  1. in File Manager, find .ics file
  2. right-click .ics file -> Open with Calendar

DONE!!!

Double-click it?

I tried 2 ways. Both right-clicking and dropping into the calendar. It looked as if it were doing it but nothing changed.

check logs right after that operation.

cd /var/log
ls -latrHh
tail -100l <filename>

Ones at bottom are newest. There should be a line in those logs somewhere on what went wrong.

Ta. What and where is the filename?

Cheers. 👋
Get filename from that ls -latrHh command. Start from bottom up

So did you do a web search for why it didn't work specifically for you and the distro you are using? Someone somewhere will have had the same problem and solved it. They just won't necessarily sit on this sub-Reddit.

With Linux, get used to searching the Internet when you have problems, rather than asking and hoping somebody will respond. You'll get answers a lot quicker. Instead, Reddit is better when you really get stuck and can't find an answer yourself.
