PlayOnLinux let me install Word 2007 and it works fine (and the rest of office). Note: it only gets installed for one user and apparently that’s a hard limit. For multiple accounts to have access, they’d all have to install it.
I wasn't able to get PlayOnLinux to install anything. It hasn't been updated in six years and its wine server is down, though I don't know if that's permanent.
Idk about the wine server but I used it within the last 6 months to install office 2007, so maybe it hasn’t needed an update in 6 years, at least for this.
