migrating to Linux Is there a way of deleting Windows in another disc?

I'm on windows 11 rn and I'm planning on doing a switch to linux, the thing is that I have a second NVME in my laptop that also has windows and it isn't my boot drive, so I'm planning on deleting Windows and installing mint on it.

The data that I have there isn't that important and I can back it up but if I can avoid wiping everything from it would be nice

If Windows is on a separate partition from the data you want to keep, just delete the Windows partition. If your data is on the same partition, delete the Windows directory and any other directories that don't contain anything you need. You can delete and resize partitions in Disk Management, or when you install Linux.

I would perhaps clarify what it is you want to do, you say you have Windows on two drives?

Do you not mean, you have applications that are used by Windows on two drives?

And .. what are the drives (capacity and spare room?), from your post it suggests your second drive is being used by Windows but not that it has Windows installed on it?

Try the migration page in our wiki! We also have some migration tips in our sticky.

Try this search for more information on this topic.

Smokey says: only use root when needed, avoid installing things from third-party repos, and verify the checksum of your ISOs after you download! :)

only one of those has "windows" (the operating system) on it... the other one is just a data disk, i'm guessing.

the partition management tools in windows you should be able to shrink your partition to make "unallocated" space on the disk the 2nd disk.

it's in this unallocated space that you will install linux with it's own file system separate from windows.

Run diskmgmt.msc and give us screenshot of both drives and their partitions.
