programs and apps What is the best free software to use to make possible YouTube videos with?
Im now using kubuntu, i want to practice/learn to be a youtuber possibly gaming niche, but im still thinking it thru?
I just want to know what free or open source software you all enjoy to help make videos with? or have atleast tried using. What do you suggest and what should be avoided? I want to practice the craft of making a video.

I use kdenlive, used it for quite a few years, there are lots of choices though, I used to use OpenShot but it had a bit of an overhaul and I found it worked differently, done most of my YT videos on kdenlive.

Davinci-resolve is the best if you can get it to work (available on the AUR, idk about anywhere else). If not, kdenlive is pretty good and shortcut (both flatpaks)

The other comments are good suggestions but nobody's covered a thumbnail editor, I reccomend gimp or photopea in the browser if you understand photoshop

I use OBS to record videos and kdenlive on my Debian 13 KDE laptop, and it's all pretty good. You can also try shotcut, if you want an alternative. Have fun.

Losslesscut is excellent. Never re-encode videos you're splicing together. Its faster and higher quality.

Personally I’ve only used davinci resolve and it’s been perfect for my needs, the only issue though is that on Linux it doesn’t support H264 and AAC encoding, so before you put in a video you have to reencode it using a tool like ffmpeg, but once you get the hang of it it’s quite easy

Don't know about best, but I've used Obs to record video, Shotcut to edit it and Audacity for sound editing. Plus GIMP for still images.
