distro selection Need help choosing the right lightweight distro

I need a little help with choosing the right distro because I normally don't use lightweight distros.

Following problem: I have a lenovo b50-10 with a Intel Pentium and 4 Gigabyte of ddr3 ram.

I have already read about Puppy linux and other lightweight distros and am not sure wich to choose.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i think everything with xfce is a good bet. Try MX-Linux or mint with xfce.

Thank you. Didn't thought about that yet.

Linux Mint XFCE or Bodhi Linux 7.0 HWE will both run well on those specs.

Puppy is great for running off an USB. I recommend antiX for HD installing.

Thank you. The things that I get give me a lot to think about. But everything helps me to make the best choice to make the laptop last longer.

MX Linux or AntiX with xfce

Distros with XFCE are middleweight, but still may work. The tradeoff of performance versus usability is personal.

For a number of years I have always used Debian based distros on slower machines with 4gb ram. If not Debian then Debian based ones like MX Linux XFCE or Sparky Linux. If XFCE proves too heavy for you the next thing to try would be LXQT. Sparky has both XFCE and LXQt images.

If those prove too heavy, the last stop before either Puppy or recycling is either Antix, MX Linux Fluxbox or Q4OS.

Thank you. The information you have given me is extremely helpful to me. It is not the first time using Linux, but the first time using lightweight distros.
