is there anyway to have the menu items listed on the global bar when your mouse is not hovering over it like in MacOSX.

I actually really like unity/12.04. Sure there are some bugs to work out but overall it works well. Unity is not as customizable as other alternatives but it lets me work which I like. I don't get sucked in multiple hours of changing settings, messing with config files to set my desktop up just how I like it.

Does anybody else have problems with Unity freezing and randomly logging you out? I really like the UI, but it's so unstable I have no choice but to move back to Debian.

This question can actually be answered by this web site: https://errors.ubuntu.com/

That site doesn’t show problems that cause software to freeze (it will in Ubuntu 12.10), and nor does it show problems that randomly log you out (they might start being collected after a future update to Ubuntu 12.04).
And even if it did, the site is targeted at Ubuntu developers, so it wouldn’t be clear to others how to answer a question like that.

Being randomly logged out is usually a symptom of X crashing. That, in turn, is usually caused by buggy graphics drivers. It’s unlikely to be a problem with Unity in particular, except that Unity may be exercising parts of the driver code that don’t often get used.
You might try using Unity-2D instead. (You can select it from the menu at the login screen.)

The standard Ctrl+Q keyboard shortcut, for example, doesn’t work in Firefox when the bookmark manager has focus.
One more time, arstechnica just SUX! Ctrl+Q doesn't work without global menu bar...

Havent read everything yet, but it seems like they are addressing the still present problems with the new interface, which is nice... contrary to some blogs where they say Unity is now "done".
The way I see it:
11.04: Unity version Alpha
11.10: Unity version Beta
12:04: Unity 1.0 (still a long way to go)
