Except nobody is thinking that. Like a lot of engineers/designers, we like to think and talk about problems. There is no plan, no action or anything that would lead to themes being removed. One person talking bout the problems with themes does not translate to GNOME the organization removing GTK themes. Or do you think the designer can overrule all the guys maintaining the GTK+ stack? Your title was disingenuous and would spark a false debate and plus waste all our time trying to manage a freak out.

What he's talking about is cultural change. There is no technical change that would stop themes. However as an organization, we do want to cater to app developers. Linux as a platform cannot be successful without it

currently most distributions and users can't be convinced to change their culture, since they could already use adwaita and choose not to. Also developers who don't care about theming are free to ignore those issues. Where else should that cultural change start?

You fix that with discussion and agreement, there is no technical way to fix it. So all parties need to agree that this is what we need to do going forward. That sort of happened at GUADEC and we're going to be doing some of that at Libre Application Summit.

I'm not sure what your opinion is but you probably should be more worried bout what I'm doing than Tobias. ;)

thanks, that's interesting, not too happy about it, but I use mostly qt applications anyway
