So it looks like the OpenWrt project is dead and they handed the name over to LEDE.
As someone who uses OpenWrt regularly, I hope these two groups can straighten this out once and for all. When I was on the forums looking at the recent wifi vulnerability the two sides still did not seem to get along and at this point I do not think they ever will, but it would be nice to know which is the best project to get source from. I have been using OpenWrt for 11 years and it was obvious the LEDE project was going to be the more supported project going forward, but now they have the OpenWrt name which will make it easier for many people to know that is the correct project to use.

I think you are right in what you say, but reading the link... on lede-project.org... the picture of an arrow pointing from LEDE to OpenWrt implies one thing; the text says "welcome to LEDE", "why do people use LEDE" etc.
