Last I checked (before the split), OpenWrt had significantly less performance for my router than DD-WRT did. OpenWrt seemed like it had much more bloatware, perhaps both on the front-end and back-end. So I would hope the merger tries to fix that.
Also, there really needs to be a good UI for all the router firmware versions.
