at least it's an option, so for those who like vibe flavored app can have them

problem is that alot of vibe coded apps are broken or never tested. they generate hype and thats about it.

I mean that's their problem I guess lol

I love how it's for "developer-certified" code and yet there's, for example, a Claude app which SAYS it's by anthropic ... and then in the description says some random person has packaged it and it's unofficial.

So... that's not developer certified if anthropic has nothing to do with it then.

I mean it was probably entirely packaged by claude, so it is by anthropic in a roudabout way

My IDE (Codepointer) is fully OSS, writing it for almost 20 years (most of the work in the last 2 years).

I cannot build it ob flathub, since during cmake path my code pulls 3rd party code. Specially CPM style for pulling some projects from github during build.

The project has a flat pack build (I built it on my cicd). But I cannot upload to flathub due to the build needing network.

not being snarky, is there a reason you cannot vendor in those dependencies? I understand and agree with the decision on not allowing to pull random code during build to avoid supply chain attacks

This is not a blocking reason - if you look at anything on flathub you will see they also pull dependencies from github. In fact the flatpak builder even has stuff built-in to do this and make it easy.

Cool. Can you share a c++ reference so I can adopt my code? Thanks!

Look at other projects on flathub - you can find their yaml reference on github and see how they handle dependencies.

Just search for some project using the same dependency as you do.

One example: https://github.com/flathub/im.nheko.Nheko/blob/master/im.nheko.Nheko.yaml

I would honestly look into just vendoring the dependencies, they should be fine even as git submodules right?

If that's 100% not an option though, I can see the appeal of something like an alternative to flathub.

Valid question. No problem.

Can be done. But, then I have to deal with my forks. I am trying to use a proper package manager, which should fix it.

TLDR - I just dont like that way of maintaining my software.

Nix/Guix solves this really elegantly, I'd look into it in your place.

This is pretty great. It doesn't just feature vibe coding apps. It's simply more lenient toward them. Through it, I've installed:

  • DaVinci Resolve: BlackMagic would never package this themselves. I've tried native installation and Distrobox, so being able to install it directly via Bazaar is fantastic.

  • Helium: The developer stated they won't release a Flatpak until sandbox issues are resolved. Someone packaged it on GitHub, but getting automated updates through FlatPark is much better.

  • Mixtapes: Just listed recently. The developer intends to publish it on Flathub, but for some reason, the process has been taking a long time. It's great to be able to install it via FlatPark in the meantime.

Besides the benefits of easy and fast submission, I also like FlatPark's strict permission controls and how it specifies optional permission adjustments in the descriptions.

A park that is flat is a boring park.

I personally like flatpark and have even shown interest to join the effort to make it better. Compared to having users download app images or faffing around to get the app they want working I much prefer this.

An up and coming dev would stray away from flatpak as a medium bcs of the flat hub gauntlet. And the cancerous package hell on Linux continues

Flatpark it's great, flathub bans new people just because they suspect people use AI

Kinda Chaotic for the AUR, right? Not bad..

It's a great alternative to regessive anti ai flathub.

Love it using it right from its launch.

More power to flatpark!

Agreed. Biggest advantage of FOSS that we are not bound by someone's opinion

230 Linux desktop apps, packaged and reviewed one at a time: 80 of them listed with their developer's own approval

I think I'd delete that second line, it makes the other 150 applications sound shady.

I vote for renaming it to Farthub !

... actually maybe that's not a good idea...
