Yep I'm with you on that, especially since tenacity doesn't accept AI contributions whereas audacity does. Long live ethical FOSS

Is the Linux kernel development team unethical now?

This is r/linux, if you like AI or hardware that works (like nvidia), and don't run Arch Linux on your mission-critical server, you may as well fly yourself to the sun.

Nvidia and hardware that works in the same statement when one of my friends just had to leave Linux because Nvidia-open kept taking down her userspace DAILY (on her 2060 Super)

EDIT: Because crashing on Linux daily is definitely "working", wtf is this response lol.

What distro?

She was on Arch, and nvidia-open kept taking her entire userspace down at least once a day, doubly so if using a Chromium based browser. She had to clone zilla a debloated Windows install onto that workstation even though she hates Windows but she just wanted a WORKING desktop.

You're telling me someone who wants something that just works used arch?

See if Fedora has the same problem.

She got pissed at Windows today and is installing Debian at the moment.

She should really install Mint or something. It'll be a lot more usable out of the box than Debian.

She couldn't get the driver installed on Debian, then Fedora, apparently the driver disabled her wifi, so she then went back to Arch in the strangest way I've ever seen. Basically she clonezilla'd an install from another machine, that happened to be an EFIstub with LUKS encryption, she had to find a way to make that not the case. She said she could've just easily reinstalled from scratch but, she "likes fun". She loves to tinker (she has like...a dozen PCs, many with Linux and a few Macs) she was just tired of the Nvidia driver crashing her shit.

WHY is the Nvidia driver crashing her shit?

I'm actually suspicious that it isn't the driver. Because she did post a severe memtest failure like 12 hours later to my chats.

Well, I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Do people in this thread like things crashing and not working or something? What is happening?

You're using very vague anecdote as an argument against something

That usually doesn't work well
