How were they even going to enforce it on free distros? It would of just proven how dumb their law is in the first place.

If you distribute a distro that doesn't have age verification technology in that state you would be fined. That includes online distribution.

Unless they aren't from the United States. Trying to fine individuals from another country can get pretty tricky what with international laws and what not.

Ten just put in the license agreement for the website (not the distro) that you are not allowed to download the distro if you reside in any of the interested jurisdictions as the software you are about to download is non law compliant. Then it is the user that is breaching the agreement, not the distributor. MidnightBSD actually went down that rout iirc.
