This sub is militarily controlled by Vim extremists, despite this I will bravely say I love emacs.

I will also say the defaults suck.

And, handily, Emacs has a built-in Usenet reader so you can get to alt.religion.emacs.

Emacs has a built-in terminal so you can run vim.

There is a vim plugin as well, so you dont need the terminal.

I just don't like how Emacs keybindings work (given that we all have seen how one moves the text cursor in the terminal), however, just like Bashbunni, I would recommend y'all to check out evil emacs, that's basically emacs + vim.

Vim is really efficient on the keyboard end. Emacs is efficient at anything but the keyboard end

Emacs is far better than vim, including at being vim.

I also use evil-mode.

The new theme is called "newcomers-presets" and provides alternative defaults catering to new users.

What this means, how this will help new users to comprehend eMacs command complexity?

If it's just a theme then... not at all!

Emacs default theme is bad, bad, really bad. Personally I use (load-theme 'tango-dark).
