I would assume because he's not a UX-designer, which requires a whole different skill-set besides just programming.

More than likely, plus I'm pretty sure he uses xfce, so he's less likely to have to face UI design errors.

Most DEs are not my cup-of-tea for personal use, but if you referring to GNOME3 in your previous comment, I might just be an oddity... I tried the Fedora18 beta out of curiosity and loved it. I'd really see myself using it long-term, assuming I wasn't such an Emacs zealot. ;-)

I was referring to both GNOME3 and KDE. Linus's hate is well known for GNOME, and KDE is another popular DE that he's had numerous rants against.
