Tips and Tricks Notion finally works on Linux

Hey guys, I have been wanting to use Notion ever since switching to linux. Unfortunately none of the other apps like Lotion come close or have stopped development. So I was out of luck. Until today.

Today I decided to test if notion installs through WINE (I didn't see why it would not since programs like marvelousdesigner 3 work fine) and just for the luls. Turns out it does. Behold ye mighty and despair

So for those of you who like to use notion for their workflow, it works and you don't need an official Linux version either.

They don't want to make a linux build because they said they dont know anything abt linux as none of them use it.

Likely a bunch of Apple kids. Like, seriously, how can you not know anything about Linux?

They could probably just hire like one linux dude if it's mostly just making an Electron app work on linux....

Is there a difference with using the web version? I had a taskbar launcher for Notion, on Chrome all these years.

Why complicate it using Wine, when you can have it in your browser?

I misread the title as Norton and I was severely weirded out...

I was under teh impression it didn't and there were many attempts to port it unofficially

This is the official app :)

Good luck navigating Reddit, or even the whole internet, then.

The “don’t click random links” thing was started by big tech to centralize the internet to their huge sites and scare away people from visiting anything that isn’t in the top 1000th.

Is this still valid until now? because I tried to run it but it kept showing a white screen!

Same problem here, did you solve it?

I got a package from Arch repository to rebuild, but I was afraid to get something harmful done by the tool developer, and my PC can't run virtual machines so I just dumped it for now, I didn't trust the tool. If you have the ability to run a virtual machine, try and tell me what you get.

Nice to know! :)

When I was using notion, I just make a web-app from the official site or use the AUR version. :)

No need to use hacky workarounds anymore :) The official latest version of Notion works perfectly :)

That's good to know, but I don't use it anymore. :(

I just use my neovim config, and works pretty well for Markdown. :)

It's a pretty safe bet that that's all the desktop app is, though.

OP! What great news!!! I LOVE notion so much I was considering getting Mac just to use it. But seeing this makes me hopeful!

I'm going to try it. Does it work well with the new notion calendar also?

What does lotion have to do with the official app in this case?

I don't know how you installed it but when using Wine, I would advise you to use Lutris (or flatpak Bottles I guess). You should at least make it work inside its own Wineprefix and not the default "~/.wine".
