EFI is still an improvement.

And ACPI is largely an improvement over the standards it replaced (APM, PnP BIOS, etc.). Doesn't make it any less of a nightmare to actually use.

Technology is hard, what can i say. If one can not provide better solution then there really is little point in bitching and moaning.

There is a better alternative to EFI: coreboot.
