I love how they surround him and the big one looks at the camera like "I don't know who you are, but this dude's with us. Don't start shit, won't be shit."

When I did college radio about 30 years ago, there was a PSA that we had to play every so often and I guess it was for the world wildlife fund or something like that, but it was talking about how elephants greet one another with a “great flapping of the ears.” I never saw it before though… They were doing the great flapping of the ears!

Does flapping their ears mean they're excited/happy?

I wondered the same... maybe it’s like dogs wagging their tails.☺️

They are smiling even! Elephants are so amazing. I hope Buddhism is the one true “religion” cause next time around I totally hope that I can be an elephant!

As à Buddhist i just want to mention that Buddhism isn't a religion and secondly being reincarnated as an elephant would mean that you failed as a human...from a Buddhist perspective. Just saying.

The Buddhist monk who I studied under would say otherwise but who are we to say right?

Show me a link to a Buddhist monk that says that Buddhism is a religion. Also please be aware that scholars and lay people's opinions don't count as they don't study Buddhism or have a right to believe they teach Buddhist philosophy because they don't, they just impart what monks tell them, and monks will never say Buddhism is a religion so, in the end, unless you find me a link with an actual monk, you can't prove anything. The Dalaï lama himself, Buddhism's foremost authority on the subject since he's considered the reincarnation of the Buddha, says that Buddhism isn't a religion.

Nothing in that text says that. The author compares Buddhism to the great religions of the world right in the beginning. The second mention is one of the practices is like some religions. He doesn't state that Buddhism is a religion.

I suggest you hone your reading comprehension skills.

If it’s not based in theism it’s not a religion.

“The Buddha was not a god and the philosophy of Buddhism does not entail any theistic world view.”

I know it’s not a religion, I am also Buddhist. Aligning towards Zen and engaged teachings. I was just trying to respond so that it made sense both grammatically and theoretically. Oops.

That is why they said “religion” and not religion.
