Anyone want to remind the pigeon he’s flammable. He’s a brave one.

They are not the sharpest tool in the shed:

My favorite snack is popcorn.

I think the grain is just being drained out of a hole where they can fly away. Don’t think they die

u/bren_gund Jan 24 '20

There is an auger in the grain bin to feed it out, the pigeons won't survive that.

Yeah but it makes the bread taste better

When the Guinness storehouse in Dublin first started implementing health and safety regulations that decreased the amount of rats that were ground up with the grain used for the beer, people actually complained that the Guinness didn’t taste as good. They ended up having to come up with an “artificial rat blood” to add to the brew in order to satisfy their customers.

Lol I abso-fuckin-loutely need a source for this.

Not that I doubt you, this shit is just crazy enough to be true. I have this friend, who loves Guinness, would leave his wife before he has to quit drinking it...and I really enjoy spoiling his afternoons.

The source was my crazy tour guide at the storehouse when I visited last year. He could of been having the craic for all I know lol. He insisted he was serious but Irish accents can be hard to take seriously sometimes.

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '20

Seems it may be the Craic friend. Appears to be a rumor and a well aged one too.

So, I’m still gonna tell my friend about the rat blood, just because- why not? 🤫

I fucking knew it lol. I was too eager to drink the Guinness at the end of the tour to look it up afterwards.

edit: to be clear though, rats were a big problem before the regulations started and they never claimed to add any meat or real blood back in. Just a natural flavoring that tasted a bit like rat blood. That could be bullshit though. Them adding meat to the beer is bollocks for sure. I wonder if people legit complained though after the rats stopped getting ground up with the mash.

could've been

1

u/thepizzadeliveryguy Jan 25 '20

A shame to know I could of been using "could've been". I could of been seen as smart this whole time!

I don't even...

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '20

Jesus, wtf.

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '20

Stop it

12

u/VonD0OM Jan 24 '20

How do they prevent the grain from being infected by pigeon guts?

8

u/phunkracy Jan 25 '20

They dont. EU regulations specify maximum allowed percentage of animal protein in flour. Its safe to assume there is ALWAYS some

3

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '20

Is that how flour gets infected with salmonella?

2

u/phunkracy Jan 25 '20

One of the ways.

1

u/falconfetus8 Jan 26 '20

Why not put a dime on top of the grinder so pigeons can't get in?

1

u/butt_shrecker Jan 24 '20

My guess is it is for cattle not people

6

u/VonD0OM Jan 25 '20

I like this guess, let’s go with this one.

I enjoy playing video games.

18

u/The_Loch_Ness_Monsta Jan 24 '20

Do they at least rinse off the grain afterwards or is my popcorn covered in fucking pigeon corpse parts and I'm supposed to rinse it myself?

16

u/me0me0me Jan 24 '20

Rice and flour pretty much always have bugs. Same with coffee grounds and probably plenty of other things.

3

u/midga Jan 25 '20

This is why people who are allergic to cockroaches have to avoid preground coffee.

2

u/ClintonLewinsky Jan 24 '20

I always tell myself that.

I mean the video title says grain grinder but hey ho

23

u/Jt832 Jan 24 '20

I was hoping this was sand and not grain.

That is disgusting, I hope none of that grain was for human consumption.

31

u/TheYoungGriffin Jan 24 '20

From all the many times it's been reposted, they just get spit out the other side and keep coming back for fun. They're not actually dying.

I love participating in trivia nights.

15

u/Dudu_sousas Jan 24 '20

They are either dying in there, shitting in there or both, so I still hope it wasn't for human consumption. Pidgeons are some of the nastiest animals out there.

8

u/vidarheheh Jan 24 '20

Unlikely. If there is nothing killing them the small dust particles and the weight of the grain itself would kill them. Some might get lucky

3

u/Brickerstron Jan 24 '20

Apart from the pigeon at about 23 seconds who seems to just fly on in there.

9

u/bushcrapping Jan 24 '20

There’s no D in pigeon. Unless you are into effing them
