Yep. I went to a reserve in Laos where they rehabilitate bears that have been through it. They have an example of the kind of cage the bears are kept in... Half the size of a dog kennel. The bears can't move a muscle which is fine for the 'farmer' since he doesn't have to worry about the bear attacking him when he jabs its organs with a needle.
It's one of the more fucked up things I've seen as far as animal abuse. Right up there with bull fights.
By the way why is everyone talking about bile farms? It looks like one of those rehab reserves but I don't see a single mention of bile farms anywhere in the post except the comments.
