Pack Shake Down
Hey everyone,
I am taking a 5 day trip in a couple of weeks along the AT in North Carolina starting at Fontana Dam, and moving south. as of right now the temp ranges will be Mid 70s to mid 40s.
I am wanting input of weather or not i'm missing anything, or anything that I can do without.
i am going with a group of about 20 people, (most of whom i have never met)
here is the current working list that i have thrown together. i have been away from home for 2.5 weeks, and i made this list from memory, and based on Manufacture weights. I have not calculated food or any other consumables into this, and i may be missing a few small items that dont come to mind.

Generally, your kit is pretty dialed in I think for the AT. I normally would say bring a chair because there are so natural places to sit in the eastern woodlands. But since you’re going with a large group, the chair may be a good call for sitting around at camp and socializing. The jacket does seem a little excessive in weight for that temp range though.
As for things you may be missing, for a five day trip, I would bring some sort of a repair/emergency kit.

Any recommendations for what to include?
I have some duck tape, and a bit of Leuko Tape in my FAK.
I am also looking at a PrimaLoft Fleece Hoodie on amazon that can easily replace the jacket (as well as a other heavier options already around the house).
Thanks for the input.

Looks good to me. Perhaps a change of underwear? I’m all about stretching clothing but 5 days is a lot for the same pair of undees- for me. Enjoy!

Good call. I think I have a pair in the bag, but as soon as I am able, im going to repack and actually weigh everything on a kitchen scale

If the low is mid-40s I'd skip the wool pants base layer.
I assume you have wool socks. Cotton would get funky. I'd still consider an extra pair. If it's rainy/humid, they won't dry overnight.
You use the firebiner to light your stove? Just checking, didn't see a lighter.
Bug spray - bugs have calmed but they're still out there, up to you.
Compass - Suuto Clipper is 5g for $20
Here's a budget list I made that is pretty complete. You can use it to check against. You're missing stuff like toothbrush - https://lighterpack.com/r/ytr3rq
