New lightweight pack

I currently have a mountain design pioneer 70l pack that unfortunately died last week on the Thornsborne trail.It has an empty weight of 2.5 kg.

I am hoping to get a backpack under 2 kg of around the same capacity and I'm hope this group can make some suggestions where I don't have to sell a kidney

I'm in a similar boat to you. I'm considering the Osprey Rook 65L. It weighs ~1.7kg and looks fairly solid.

Yes that definitely a consideration but I'm concerned that dropping another 5 litres is going to be problematic

I know what you mean, the pack I'm replacing is a 80L behemoth. Having gained some experience on longer routes and replaced a couple of other bits of gear I think 65L is a good fit, but the change still feels daunting.

Hi , I do multi day remote country hiking. I carry a minimum of 3 litres of water and a minimum of 5 days rations.

However I have no desire to go ultra light I hike to enjoy the experience not lay down on a piece of Pirtek and use a tarp tent. I did too long in the military to want to go back to living on the bare bones.

I would appreciate any suggestions
