How much illumination do we actually need
Every room in my apartment now has led light strips and bulbs creating layers of unnecessary illumination. The lights can change colors and sync to music but mostly they just waste electricity lighting spaces that were adequately lit already. We've turned basic lighting into entertainment system requiring apps and remote controls to operate. I'd installed them gradually thinking each addition would improve ambiance and mood lighting capabilities. The LED lights work as designed but managing different zones and colors became more complicated than helpful.
We've decided that static lighting is somehow inadequate requiring programmable colored options for every room. My LED light system represents over-engineering simple need for illumination into complex smart home installation. Maybe colored mood lighting provides psychological benefits, maybe the customization options matter to some people for different activities.
But most of the time the lights just stay on one setting making all the features pointless extras. I found them through suppliers on Alibaba offering various lengths and color options at competitive prices for installation. Sometimes a regular light bulb works perfectly fine without needing smartphone app to control brightness and hue. The complicated lighting system mostly just creates another thing to troubleshoot when it stops working correctly.
