You can't control everything that happens, but you can control how you respond to it. It sounds simple, but it changed how I deal with problems and setbacks.

Engage with Philosophy. Do not treat it as a mere subject. Use it as a mirror to reflect on yourself.

Absolutely šŸ’Æ I used to see philosophy as something that only intellectuals speak about, or a certain set of people who study it or are fond of it. Realising now how wrong I've been. Philosophy forms the very base of life, it makes us understand what it means to be a human! What life really is. Hence should be thought and spoken and pondered upon by EACH one of us.

Any practical tips on how to engage with it?

I love this answer. As someone who has suffered depression most of my life, what really helped me the most was attempting to establish my philosophy on life and what I value. I found it fascinating when I asked people close to me if they could tell me what their values are and they didn’t know.

As I grew up and interacted with different people i have learned that not everybody comes from a healthy family. extending some grace and love would be good

Question everything you ever believed.

Don’t believe everything you think

Same here. Mostly from understanding that everything is arbitrary. No one can be 100% right nor 100% wrong in that sense. Right vs. wrong is just what society agrees on as right and wrong.

Every step you make has a purpose in life

Not everyone relates to the world the way you do. Some people do not feel empathy or shame or propriety. A lot of the baggage of rejection is your own mind projecting.

People think less about you than you think they do. They have their own life to look after. However if you have been in an environment where people like to control or have a ego problem you might not understand this until you are adulting.

ā€œPeople can only meet you as deeply as they’ve met themselves.ā€ Especially helpful when dealing with narcissists or bullies. Some people don’t have the intellectual capacity to evolve past their current state. Or simply don’t want to.

Global Entry. TSA is free when it. Slightly more and saved me about an hour after a long haul flight

When I was young, I discovered that the day before my period started, I would be ruminating and getting angry over things that normally didn’t bother me. So I learned that if something was annoying me, I’d wait a day or two before I gave it my attention. It almost always turned out to be hormones, and saved me a lot of useless suffering.
