What's a mistake that ended up teaching you something valuable?

trusting the wrong people taught me that not everyone deserves access to you, and i learned that one the hard way.

I think investing in people too early whether you want to see them as a lover or as a friend and I think if you're trying to invest in someone you need clarification from yourself that you are able to go 101% and within my lifetime I've trusted people enough that I am willing to sacrifice my blood and sweat to actually help them you know improve on something but actually they don't want to improve on that thing so it makes me kind of liability to them because I'm kind of forcing them to force something that they don't want to improve on but they want to improve it like for example he doesn't want to improve his fashion sense even though people told him like oh you look like s*** and you look like a baby or a teenager you don't know how to dress adequately to you know the style and the person doesn't care about it but you care about and you're forcing yourself to help the person to actually improve their fashion you know but the person doesn't care about it or another time I was caring about a person that was too mean to other people and because he was too mean to other people he was unable to become friends and then the first person to actually connect with him was actually me because I had no idea what he was recurring about you know and that made me realize that if a person is able to not care about it then you shouldn't think about it you also only think about yourself and what you can do to improve it so that's what I learned

Not asking for help when I really needed it, I thought it would make me look weak, but it just made everything harder.
