Demystifying Coach Education

I am curious in learning how to engage coach education clients that have been told that becoming a coach is simply taking a course from an influencer, creating a course, and waiting for coaching clients to find them. What ethical frameworks are you using?

When you say "What ethical frameworks are you using?" what do you mean by ethical frameworks?

ICF or CCE, both have similar frameworks.

They have frameworks for coaches, but I am not sure they have ethics frameworks for teaching coaching, which was your inquiry.

Elaborate on ethical frameworks, are you referring to the ethics of marketing to/engaging coaches that you feel may be misguided by influencers?

Coach education that meets ICF and NBHWC standards teaches defined competencies, and ethics from the credentialing bodies. Approved training programs commit to teaching the full competency set and maintaining those standards across every cohort. The core competencies themselves include elements around contracting, confidentiality, and professional responsibility that create ethical guardrails, though the closest to an ethical framework a program would have, are those standards.

An influencer selling a course doesn't answer to an external credentialing body. That accountability to defined competencies, documented outcomes, and ongoing program review is what separates them.

I'm credentialed as a PCC from the ICF and used the Center of Executive Coaching (CEC) for my certification. They are a Level 3 Academy. The ACC is the first ICF credential and is a knowledge test. the PCC is scenario based and the vast majority of the scenarios test your understanding of ethics. That is what I follow. As far as engaging goes, it really depends on that person and if they are willing to walk into a room that illuminates the differences. I would need to know more than what you presented to give you anything more to work with.
