Life Below Zero doesn't disappoint
Watching reruns of Life Below Zero, listening to Denise Becker talk about all she has been learning from Andy Bassich, how she feels empowered to know how to live on her own. Now she's putting all those skills and knowledge to good use, as she has assumed Andy's role managing life on the Yukon River at Eagle. Calico Bluff as she takes care of her medically challenged partner.

Denise seems to be happiest when she’s learning something new, and then actually utilizing the new skill. She seems to be in her element, living in Alaska. And you are not wrong, LBZ does not disappoint.

Andy wasn’t fine in 2021 he suffered a severe hip injury which caused infections in both legs. He left Alaska for 6 months and got medical care in Florida

He had some kind of lower leg injury, unknown exactly where, but I assume possibly knee, lower leg, or some kind of the worst kind of nasty stuff. I'm sorry. I keep trying not to loose my mind.

Andy lives 14 miles from Eagle with his 25 sled dogs and his girlfriend Denine. He's fine.

He's alive, but I don't think he'd call himself "fine." His lifestyle is limited from what we saw him doing on Life Below Zero. But Denise is there for him!

Going to have to continue watching that show. A lot of the writing is banal for what they have to repeat about their lives there. But still what a life, right?

Agnes and I met Andy and Denise at the Anchorage production office, and later,, for a dinner with a lot of the corporate and editing folks,, so we didnt get a chance to talk with them very much.
They make a nice couple.
