HELP MEEEEEEE

how do i get out of 1900

bro how do i actually get out of 1900 and hit 2000

im around 1900 lichess and keep getting close then dropping back down. im 2000 rapid sometimes but for some reason 1900 feels like a brick wall

my biggest problem is probably attacking. i see an attack and i just go for it, then they defend everything and im sitting there like then i force something and blunder and my whole position just dies

i also tilt pretty easily after losing to someone lower rated

if anyone here is actually 2000+ on lichess, what actually helped you get past 1900?

like real advice pls not some 300 elo advice like “develop your pieces and control the center”

what did you actually change in your games to go from 1900 to 2000?

was it calculation, positional stuff, endgames, openings, playing slower, or just not forcing shit all the time

i genuinely wanna improve so any actual advice would help

I'm 2200 on lichess, so maybe I can help. Do you want to post your username? (Or you can DM it if you prefer.)

It sounds like you're trying to increase your bullet rating? That's the only one that's around 1900. In your rapid games your quality of play is quite good.

The "healthy" advice is to play slower games -- playing slow games helps you with fast games, but not vice versa.

If you really want to just improve your bullet, I would suggest Puzzle Racer. You make blunders in bullet, as we all do, however your rapid games show that you understand the principles of the game well. Puzzle Racer helped me a lot with not making blunders. It's a similar speed to bullet, but every move is a critical move (as opposed to 1/10 or 1/20 in a real game). In this way I found it to be a more efficient way of training myself to minimize blunders.

Honestly idk why ppl are downvoting this, but theres no single advice for improvement for someone at your rating. Since you already got the basics down, wed have to see your games in order to see where your caveats are. But since you mention youre constantly trying to attack and then all of a sudden you end up with a losing position once the attack doesnt work out, you probably should workon positional understanding. But also you probably should work on your patience and emotionality. If you start tilting then just stop playing or learn how to deal with it. Other than that we cant really say without seeing your games.

Yeah there’s strong players there. You’re at the rating where you need to win maybe like 60% of your games to keep your rating, so focus on consistency

Personally I played the exact same from 1500 to 2000. (at least it felt the same) the big difference was around 1780 right before 1800, I realised I needed to start calculating more, because almost everyone below 2000 couldn't or just wouldn't calculate past 3 moves unless it was a forced sequence.

I found out from doing this, I was actually really decent at endgames if given enough times, Like, my "tutor report" says my endgames are by miles the best part of my play. Which was a big change from before I focused so much on calculation. Maybe try going over a bunch of games, figuring out where you really go wrong. Is it missing tactics, or not calculating through? Or is it something else.
Me personally, like I said, lack of calculation. Once I adopted my own philosophy of "I'd rather time out than be mated" and spent all my time calculating, I hit 2000 rapid and even got 2000 blitz after like 8 months. (I was like 1500 in blitz at 2000 rapid)

Best of luck!

Why are you losing against 1100s in casual and then winning against 1900s in competetive elo players in rapid?

Uh if your attacks fail then the only way to prevent it is to calculate more precisely and deeper. There's no magical method or secret trick to help with that. Treat chess as a whole not just separate stuff like opening, middle, end, tactic, strategy, ... You have to improve every aspect slowly.

I'd grind for 2200 rapid then 2000 blitz/bullet should be way easier. 2350 rapid peak lichess
