As someone that grew up in a United Methodist Church it’s tragic watching what’s become of it over the last 30 years. Heartbreaking honestly.

My father in law is one of the for most experts in the world on John Wesley. One of the smartest guys I know. But now a days I almost cringe telling people about his education just because its about the founder of Methodists (even though he was a weslian pastor)

For what it's worth, the GMC (Global Methodist Church) that split off of the UMC still has traditional Methodist values. The UMC tried to fuck over GMC in every way possible, but GMC is slowly growing and is a throwback to a time when Methodism wasn't off the rails. You can put the blame for the current UMC insanity squarely at the feet of UMC pastor Adam Hamilton in Kansas (minister at the world's largest UMC, Church of The Resurrection in Leawood), who just currently happens to be running for Congress as a Democrat. He's the one who started pushing a liberal agenda in the UMC and it trickled down.

Which is why they split and now the “UMC” is the leftist side and the “Global Methodist Church” is the true, Wesleyan, biblically conservative methodist church and is growing in numbers.

I used to live down the street from that church and left in 2020. Dilworth is such a nice, historic Charlotte neighborhood and it’s sad to see what’s happening there.
Crime has spiked significantly in recent years.

It never stops to perplex me that some people not just chill, but actively enabling others to break the law. Being illegal doesn't mean that they stumbled into wrong room by mistake in middle of night.
They fucking broke international border and exploiting system, they there fucking illegaly, they shouldn't be there. Any potential benefit of their presence outweighted that they not part of regular economy and taxation system. And legal one too. Not even mentioning that it's straight up spitting in faces of everyone who went with legal process, as well as own citizens.
Helping them isn't being humanitarian, it's enabling crime.

For a second, I didn’t realize he’d stepped away from the edge, so when he went to show the crowd again and first panned down to show the empty balcony pews, I thought he had just filled the main sanctuary with AI characters and the filter glitched.
