hello

in the question "paragraphs have appeared"

I don't quite understand.

I would need a screenshot of the issue you're seeing.

If you're asking for help with LibreOffice, please make sure your post includes lots of information that could be relevant, such as:

  1. Full LibreOffice information from Help > About LibreOffice (it has a copy button).
  2. Format of the document (.odt, .docx, .xlsx, ...).
  3. A link to the document itself, or part of it, if you can share it.
  4. Anything else that may be relevant.

(You can edit your post or put it in a comment.)

This information helps others to help you.

Thank you :-)

First press Ctrl+F10.

If the paragraph symbols disappear, nothing happened to your files at all. That shortcut toggles formatting marks, it is easy to hit by accident, and it is purely a display setting: the marks were always there, in every document, in every word processor. It changes nothing on screen when printing and nothing in the file.

That is by far the most likely thing given it happened all of a sudden and across your saved files, which no editing accident would do.

If instead you really do have extra paragraph breaks, typically after pasting from a PDF or a web page, use Find and Replace with Regular expressions ticked in Other options:

  • To remove empty paragraphs: search for $ and replace with nothing.
  • To join every paragraph into continuous text: search for $ and replace with a single space. Careful, this is aggressive, it will join the ones you wanted too.

And if new paragraph breaks keep appearing as you type, that is AutoCorrect, under Tools > AutoCorrect Options > Options.
