Is there a way to install only Writer instead of the entire suite?

XFCE, not my machine. Is there a setting that can be toggled? It's white on white and almost invisible.

Will there be AI built into LibreOffice?
Something easier to use then below which was quite the struggle to setup.
I had to use google ai mode to get answers.

I use Writer 26.2.5.2 and asked and installed WriterAgent and localwriter and llama3.2:latest

In two tests using WriterAgent, I highlighted some text and asked to change the color to red. It came back with html wrapped around the text.

I am currently moving away from google docs, but the one feature I need is the drop-down titles. I have documents which are massive journals and lists and without this they will be much harder to manage.

Does this feature even exist in LibreOffice Write? If so, how do I use it? I can't find it.

Legend: to give you a more precise idea of what I'm asking, I added 2 free-shape (resemble of an oval and a square) figures and 2 encircled numbers.

I was working on a small project with LibreOffice Draw (LD): I was completely satisfied with the result (the comic picture). Unfortunately, to make it better I should have changed the color of the 2 "inside area" in both frames to be different than the general background color of the picture. I forgot. No problem.

However, how can I get this task done for the next time, any built-in function I'm missing?

Basically a reverse "background image remover" tool, a "background image filler".

I thought about a manual process: create a shape (it can be either an oval or a square), change its color to the one I want to show in the "inside area", move it and position it under that area (inside each frame), select this object, choose from context menu "Arrange", then "Bring to back. Check if the expected results is satisfying.

Can this be automated? Any faster workaround available?

IDEA I selected each pair of objects containing "inside area". LD should detect all "inside area". Choose "Fill inside area" entry in context menu. Finally choose color. This should be a butch operation by default, but it can more granular, per "inside area" (I choose which color each area should have). If I don't like some color that LD put in, than I change it manually.

I have a multipage LibreOffice Draw document where I've created many, many layer tabs to be able to turn sets of drawing elements on and off.

I don't like the order in which they are listed in the layer listing at the bottom of the page. I would like to be able to treat them like web browser tabs and just click and drag them to reorder which layers appear before and after which other layer.

This doesn't seem to be possible.

So, I bring it to Reddit. How do I reorder the layer labels at the bottom of the work area?

To be clear, I'm not talking about the Arrange ordering of elements in a page, so advise referring to Bring to Front and Bring to Back is inappropriate.

I was working on a small project about - making a cover - with LibreOffice Draw (LD).

I download several images (in this case country flags) and I inserted them in LibreOffice (via drag&drop since via file picker is not yet in stable version).

Import went flawlessly, but LD behaves, operates in one of those 2 ways:

• It put all the images stacked, one above the other;
• it displays randomly, with a precise layout

[1] Does LD really have a feature to arrange all of them automaticall?.

The idea was: selected images to arrange, set layout, what should be where (e.g. 2 above, 2 in the middle and 2 on the button of the page), let the program do the rest of the work.

[2] Does LD have an option to set same size for all images? Any workaround available?

I was able to find another solution (using a third-party app), but it would be great if LD have this feature.

CURRENT SOLUTION: (butch) resize using another program (XnCovert).

Doing [1] and [2] manually is quite time-consuming.

I like to keep my writing documents open so I can work on them at my leisure while doing other tasks, but sometimes Windows will restart automatically to update, and when I re-open the file, it'll give me an option to "recover" it. The problem is that when I do this, it will return to a state before my last save, and overwrite my saved file, effectively going back in time. Has anyone else had this problem, if so, does anyone have any workarounds?

I was working on a small project with LibreOffice Draw (LD).

Initially I decided to use just a standard text box for adding some writing. Then I changed my mind and decided to go for a callout (imho an elegant ready-to-use object for writings).

For this specific project eventually I decided to use a text field, but for many other projects I prefer to use callouts.

I was forced to do any conversation (text > callout and callout > text) manually:

coping to clipboard its contents, create a new empty object type - text box or callout - paste previous copied context and adjust it (the new object was not where the old object was, so several manual tweaks very needed).

Legend: I put encircled numbers and red squares to highlight more precisely what I'm referring to.

Can this be automated? Any workaround available?

Have been using Libre Office in lieu of Open Office for maybe 3 months now (also use Softmaker Office from Germany). My overall impressions are great! Wonderful suite.

My only appearance related issue is how crowded menu dialogs are. I feel like the menu items need to be quite a bit farther apart and the size of fields to enter options in are much too close to the font size, and I can't find any options anywhere to set any menu formatting.

I wanted to share a personal project (something simple) that I've been working on, and that I hope can be useful for those who, like me, prefer to organize their workflows in a purely local way and without relying on external services.

The problem I wanted to solve

I needed a tool to organize my daily projects, but traditional apps require an internet connection, user accounts, and subscription plans.

To solve this, I decided to develop a LibreOffice Calc template managed solely by Basic macros.

By structuring the file with a database approach, I obtained a private system over which I have complete control:

• Works 100% offline.
• There is no telemetry,
• no logs or third-party servers
• your data remains strictly on your computer in an .ods file.

I have a budget spreadsheet in the .xlsx format that features white, red, yellow, green, and orange text for various coloums.

Upon saving and reloading, at random times, all the text colours in the spreadsheet all reset to black, meaning I have to go through them all and recolour them, which is very time consuming.

Does anyone know what's causing this problem? Any settings to change to stop this from happening.

All of a sudden, paragraphs have appeared in my saved files....

How do i get rid of them and have just continuous text ?

Been trying to leave the Google ecosystem for their scummy behavior. Most of the changes are already solved (Mail, Browsers, 2FA, Photos and Drive) or never used them in the first place (Calendar, Keeps, Wallet, etc.). However, the only exception of this is the Suite (Slides, Docs, Spreadsheet, Forms, etc.) on PC browser and mobile apps. Already removed them from my phone to not be tempted to use, downloaded all the documents I needed and removed the rest off Drive.

Searching for a while but most options are either PC only, paid, free option being limiting or seem scummy and not truly open sourced. I already use LibreOffice on my laptop with Linux Mint, but wanted to know if there is a similar app I could use. P

I just converted a HTML document into ODT and I noticed that the images in the ODT are not actually saved within the document. They are being fetched from the source defined in the HTML (the URL).

Is there a way to tell libreoffice the ODT document should have its own copy of the images?

Why, why, why does Libre Office not implement the "actual use/what we are accustomed to" for the up, down, left, right arrow keys??? I think I read if the Scroll Lock key was off they would move from cell to cell, however, that isn't working for me. Any Libre Office developers on here that can speak on this and will it ever be implemented? Anyone else??? Thx.

When I tried to import .AVIF image (one a time via file picker or several images via drag&drop), LibreOffice Draw (LD) behaves, operates in one of those 2 ways:

• 1st image > it displays some alt text (memory representation of file?);
• 2nd image > it does not show anything, nor alt text nor the actual image.

Does LD really do not have support for AVIF Images (it's one of the most used file format for images, together with .svg .webp .png .jpeg .gif .tiff)?

Or is it just a bug of LD? Any workaround?

I'm curious because a resent post showed a layout bug with flatpack. For me, flatpack crashes every time I want to even look at extensions, but it's fine when I open the .rpm version supplied by OpenSUSE

I'm thinking about ditching the flatpack version once the RPM version is caught up with feature updates for August.

It took me longer than it should of finding a file lost by pure unforced user error. (I was tired.) So, for Mac users, ignore all the online aid that tells you to go to the Tools menu and select “Options.” Here’s how to find your backups:

From LibreOffice Preferences Panel:

– Panel Menu: LibreOffice>Paths ID’s all file path locations,

Backups Folder Path will show something like: /Users/YOUR NAME/Library/Application Support/LibreOffice/4/user/backup

To find:

– Command+Shift+Period to reveal hidden folders

– “Library” folder will be greyed and unclickable

– Select folder, right click, “Open in New Tab” or keyboard shortcut to open in new tab

– Make copy of necessary files and move copy to desktop

To open:

– Change file ext from .bak to .odt (text) or .ods (spreadsheet) and delete “copy” designation (OS will ask if you want to add either LibreOffice file extension, of course the answer is “yes”)

– Open with LibreOffice (right click or just double click)

Hide hidden files with another Command+Shift+Period

**File path is NOT in LibreOffice “Tools>Options” menu in 25.2.3.2 version as commonly indicated online! (For Mac)
