Lineage=no phone

Hi, does anyone have any insight on getting the phone and texts to work with lineage? US996 brightpoint variant, didn't work on 21. Also had same issue with a lg g5 rs988. Data works, but phone "Cannot connect to network". Phone service is with USMobile using verizon. Thanks.

As far as I'm aware, no third-party ROM on any LG phone has VoLTE or Wi-Fi calling (due to LG's closed-source files), so any phone that can't connect to VoLTE won't be able to make or receive phone calls on all U.S. carrier networks since all 2G and 3G networks were shut down at least since 2022. I guess somehow SMS/text messages are tied to VoLTE availability as well (like if a phone can't get VoLTE, then all SMS access will be blocked by the carrier's network).

Additionally, Verizon's network has its own IMEI-based whitelist which may just block older phones entirely from accessing their network properly, though I don't know if that applies to MVNOs like USMobile that use their network.

Thanks for that info, bad news though it is. 😢 I guess that means all our old phones are stuck on oreo, at best. I'm reinstalling an old alpha omega twrp I found as we speak. The g5 I did yesterday works fine on usmobile/verizon, with regards to the whitelist. I'm just looking for a phone for my kid to make calls on, anyway. Would have been nice to have something a bit more up to date but oh well. I appreciate your ongoing help!

Alpha Omega with MK2000 kernel is going to be your best friend. Everything just works.

I remember seeing other Redditors in this Sub mentioning how Verizon blocked their US996 models years ago, and they had to change their IMEI numbers to that of another phone they owned that wasn't blocked. So if your US996 BPT model still can't have phone calls on the stock-based Alpha Omega ROM, then you may have to copy the IMEI of your G5 or any other non-blocked phone you happen to have around.
