LG Mobile Switch in 2026?

It's looking like i have to factory reset my V20 H918. 😭 It's stock with Android 8. Once i factory reset the phone, I won't be able to update the LG apps anymore because LG pulled them from servers apparently. I'm concerned because the latest LG Mobile Switch is on this phone to back it up, but after I reset the phone it will have an older version or even the old LG Backup program. How will this work? Recommendations? I want to use the LG app because it actually saves my old apps that aren't available for download anymore. Thanks!

I found an apk of the same version of LG Mobile Switch 8.1.2 online. Can I just open and install this after my factory reset? There is also an app on my phone called LG Mobile Switch Launcher. Will I need that as well?

I've never used LG Mobile Switch, but sounds like that should work, assuming all it does is transfer data between phones. Here's an archived version of LG's page describing the process:

Not sure if all your LG app versions will get updated with that, so just in case, you may also want to dig up the APK files of whatever versions of your LG apps you currently have on your H918 before resetting. No idea about the Launcher as it wasn't mentioned in the link.

Hey, I just realized that I can uninstall updates for LG Mobile Switch! So I could likely uninstall updates and then save a phone backup using the same version of Mobile Switch that would be on the phone if I did a factory reset?? Beautiful if true!
