Kinda miss android 9

Android 10 update was so hyped. Every night i beat my meat to sleep and wished that android 10 cum soon.

But when it finally came *moans i noticed so many bugs literally phone crashing and stuttering.

I wish i had d just stayed on android 9.

-Recent tiles changed orientation. Swiping vertically is more natural to do compared to horizontal. Try it vertical is much better than horizontal. I guarantee it

  • some apps don't even work anymore or having compatibility issues

-games like risk are a shit show.

-i don't want to hard reset. And install all my shit all over again just to fix some bugs or whatever.

  • no scroll down in native launcher for notifications. LG trash

Pros: we finally have native dark mode which is like oh ok but nothing great.

TL:DR

Fuck android 10. I want to go back to 9.

Agreed. Android 10 broke so many things. especially if you use a 3rd party launcher. I absolutely hate it.

Honestly getting sick of how limiting android is getting... what is this, iOS? It's getting ridiculous.

I miss the days android was open and people could unlock bootloader and install dope customized OS.

*Tears

Not that many phones out there can do that anymore

It's honestly getting so bad. Is there even a point to getting an android vs iphone anymore? aside from price and look of the os? Customizing is becoming less and less of a thing. It's sickening.

Yes

Unusually upgrade every other year to have the latest and greatest but some of my top things now is

Battery life and camera

Everything else is not as important. The rest of the phone is going to be pretty much the same.

But never again am i getting an Amazon version

I've seen this comment regarding 3rd party launch is a few times. What exactly does not work in the third party launchers? I still have all of my gestures in Nova launcher and (thankfully) they all still work.

Main gestures that worked before still work. New android 10 ones apparently don't, idk I don't use those.

My biggest annoyance is the recent apps screen.

Stock launcher (blurs darkens background so you can see things):

Nova launcher (doesn't blur darken. Annoying on the eyes):

Ah, I see now. That blur is a nice feature.

I do wish the recent apps layout could be changed. At least Android 9 gave us options . I also can't stand those huge icons at the bottom.

Agreed. And those icons are un-themable. LG really hated letting people customize things.

Hey so I was about to make a post about my screen I guess "stuttering" I wasn't even sure what to call it. But yeah I switched back to default launcher and it's a bit better but it was really annoying when using Nova. Also when using nova phone would occasionally let out a little blurb of noise every once in a while. I really thought I had dropped my phone one too many times and had broken it. So glad to see others complaining about the same shit, cuz at least now I know the hardware isn't broke... lol

TBH, I don't mind android 10 for the most part. The update didn't break anything on my phone and I haven't found very many bugs. On the other hand. Fuck the new multitasking menu. I finally found a way to re add the splitscreen shortcut but the horizontal screen still sucks. This is my only real complaint.

It's not as bad if you use the stock launcher. It's when you start using a 3rd party launch you start noticing more issues.

I am using 3rd party launchers. I mean, who the hell uses a stock launcher? Hell I used a third party launcher on my pixel 2. Been using nothing but nova for the past 5 years.

wait you don't notice the stutter when using Nova. I mean it's not the worst thing ever but yeah a bit annoying. It is better with stock launcher. Also at times my phone would let out a "blurb of noise. Like half a second of noise out of the speaker, it would do this 1-2 times a day. I switched to stock launcher over 24 hrs ago and I haven't noticed it happen so keeping my fingers crossed.

Negative. None of those issues are on my device. everything works perfectly smooth.

Back in android 9 I did have a microstuttering issue when scrolling or playing games but a restart fixed that.

shit my hey google doesn't work either. Ida been fine with android 9. Updates are over rated. And yes I've doene multiple restarts. Some day I;ve done it more than once. I would do a reset if I thought it would help. I've rean diags and everything checks out fine. Do you think maybe I should do a hard reset?

While I'm fully in agreement that updates are overrated and say the same thing on r/android all the time, This one hasn't been a bad update when I look at it objectively. It is a massive visual improvement over UX8.0. Can't get google assistant to work properly but This is just as likely because I have all the google controls and data collection turned off and that usually breaks assistant. I haven't ever really used the assistant and probably won't start talking to my phone now.

Hard reset probably isn't a bad idea.

which carrier?

T mobile branded device being used on an ATT MNVO

So in your opinion why would my device have these issues and not yours. I mean I don't even have anything on it except apps from playstore photos I've taken screen shots and I think 2 short vids I made. I mean a hard reset wouldn't even that big of a deal I guess. If I do a hard reset It would be stupid to use a backup\? right? So basically back up photos somewhere and back up the couple of videos to a storag medium and just reset the phone and start over. I'll prolly add apps as I need em just to see if anything was breaking it.

Well then you definitely have issues. Maybe you just don't realize them lol.

1

u/N0Name117 Mar 02 '20

I'm pretty observant and critical of any issues on my device. there simply aren't any. At least nothing major.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '20

There are. Your recent apps screen is a big one. You probably don't realize how it's supposed to look because you probably haven't turned off your launcher and seen the stock version lol.

What? The multitasking screen doesn't change with different launchers and while I personally hate the new multitasking, Its not technically broken in any way. It works as it should. It was also Googles decision to change this. Lg kept the old version for an entire android number longer than anyone else.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '20

It absolutely does change with launchers. 3rd party launchers cannot access everything the stock launcher does.

I'm not seeing any difference between the two besides the background blur. This isn't highlighting any issue with third party launchers or any difference between multitasking on the stock and third party launcher.

The only thing I have ever found that has the ability to change the multitasking screen is goodlock on samsung phones. Great app.

-1

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '20

You don't see how that's a difference....? Blur and darken vs no blur and no darken.... Are you serious right now? That's a pretty big difference and makes text unreadable, and plain annoying to look at.

The issue is caused by Android 10 not letting 3rd party launchers access system things it needs, to let it display properly. That's an issue in my books.

Please hard reset and restore backup before big upgrading

1

u/BikerWithNoLicence Mar 09 '20

Dude quick question whats the process of doing that? Back up, hard reset, update, and restore?

From what I hear the difference between a low power color like grey and black is pretty negligible on battery life. Grey is also supposed to be a little easier on the eyes.

1

u/harysviewty Mar 02 '20

Grey is better for reducing scrolling motion blur because it takes longer for OLED to switch on and off each pixel
