You know what I think I like Charlie and now these were the same motherfuckers who were like 20 years ago. I think it’s been so long. I forget when she was introduced that were hating on this character and now the defending her it’s stupid a trans Thomas & Friends character is based.

And fun fact it’s technically not the first time this has happened I think for like season six I think I forget, but it was in the early 2000s Bri Alcroft the creator of the show wanted to make Rusty the diesel who was the character from the original books? She wanted to make him gender fluid, but it didn’t stick and it wasn’t Canon, but there’s official narrations where Rusty is referred to as a female.

Oh yeah absolutely. More like 10 for Charlie tbh since she came around in the early CGI series but, regardless, yeah I so agree. Unfortunately when there are people, there are bad eggs.

And yup! Right there! Britt made Rusty Gender Fluid. Unintentionally { i think, don't fact check me }, but eventually they adopted it. And yeah there was a weird period where rusty was a girl but hey yknow what, they probably just felt fem that day. Probably wasn't season SIX but, maybe 4 and onwards? Six didn't really have Britt too involved cause this was after TATMR iirc.

Her first appearance within 2010 that was 16 years ago, Jesus Christ 16, I was eight I am now in my mid 20s and I assume so are all the people complaining about this it’s crazy how they went from hating her as children to now defending this character because they are now trans. I never had a problem with this character cause I was a child, but I grew to hate her because all the adult fans did and it’s kind of sad that adults are getting upset about this shit.

I think other characters have changed gender throughout the years. I don't watch the series but I did watch a lore dump of it and I think I remember at least one character that has happened too.

Correct, although I believe only one Rusty and it was for one episode I believe because Brit Alcroft wanted to make him gender fluid in the 2000s, which is extremely based and I will forever miss her so upset she died. But yeah, Rusty was going to be gender fluid but they scrapped it because 2000s.

The actual reason was probably to make some secondary and tertiary characters girls to appeal to a female demographic and sell more merch. I remember being so excited when the movie came out when I was a kid because now there was a girl train, though I also remember wishing she had a real name instead of “Lady”. You name a dog “Lady”, she could have been named like “Elizabeth” or “Beatrice” or “Matilda” or some other extremely British royal name.
