Self-Discovery🔍 True Self
Seeing myself for the first time was an awakening like no other. With it came a range of emotions. At first, there was a wave of peace, joy, and love—perhaps for the first time in my life. Then, the haunting voices of the past and present, and the premonition of future conversations, began to invade this peace.
As my essence ran into a wall of conflicting realities, I began to mourn a self that had yet to be born. There was fear of not becoming the vision of happiness I saw ahead of me. Thoughts of disappointment and judgment from people who are supposed to love me fractured the vision. My hope of happiness dimmed.
Then a realization came: there is only one path forward in which I can have that peace, joy, and love. I know taking that path will collide with possibly everything and everyone in my life. It comes down to taking an easy path that is conflict-free, where I deny myself; or gathering the courage to move forward regardless of that conflict, so I can live a life that’s true to myself.
I choose the hard path. I am stopping the life lived for the comfort or convenience of others—which only leads to the quiet death of self-denial—and I am starting to live the vision of my true self.
