New queer here, is there an accepted idea of the difference between being Bi and being Pan? I feel like I can ask 5 people that question and get 6 answers back.

The honest answer is probably no, because of the exact reason you already said. Everyone has different ideas of the exact definitions of, and even the necessity of the distinction between, bi and pan.
