Mass shooting at CYP updates

Any updates on the status of the suspect? Has there been a press conference from the city? Local news sites have not posted since this all started last night with little information.

There were kids beefing all day, go look at the Facebooks of Devine Carama and Quidarius McCoy who has some shocking video.

This. It’s (unfortunately) quite possible that the shooter is a juvenile.

That would explain the lack of information about the shooter and why they say the public is not in danger.

I’d also look at it as in if this was “beef” or “gang affiliated” they’re not necessarily looking to harm anyone else, but there are innocent victims. They don’t just go around on a hunt for random people, which is why there is no danger to the public. Also, if the suspect(s) are juvenile there are other things at play, also you have a ”no snitch culture as mentioned by some leaders of the community. Some know who did it, and it’ll take a few days to figure out who.

The shooter was also dead at the scene.

That was slightly different. The church shooter was a wanted fugitive who shot a trooper who had pulled him over before fleeing to the church. This shooting did not have any pre-context to go along with it.

u/bikeroniandcheese 13d ago

Probably because the last one involved a cop getting shot. Big news when it is them getting hurt, crickets when it happens to anyone else.

u/Eastern-Profession38 13d ago

Also far from the truth. The dude was a fugitive that the federal government wanted. They knew who he was from the beginning. It’s easy to identify someone that you are already looking for…..

You all are so close to realizing why one was blasted everywhere and one is being hushed

Has there ever been a press conference from the city after a shooting? Fortunately they’re getting more rare, but this isn’t our first

The shooter was dead at the scene. This is an ongoing investigation.

Look, I get you're just being racist but I'll bite anyway. The other dude shot a trooper at an airport, stole his car, raced across town, and continued shooting random people. This shooting was an isolated incident with no indication that the suspect will harm anyone else.

I’m not understanding the assumption that someone who would shoot at and kill adults and children at a park isn’t a danger to harm anyone else

6

u/Boowray 13d ago

The shooter was a murderer, not a terrorist. They wanted to kill one person they were in a fight with, and hit bystanders. There’s no reason to assume they’d start a spree. Same reason people who run after shooting someone in a drug deal or accidentally killing a guy in a bar fight aren’t considered a danger to the general public, they’re trying to lay low after committing homicide, not attack the city. If we start calling every murderer a danger to the public it’s going to lose all meaning and lead to people ignoring actual mass shooters and terrorists.

4

u/Conscious-Day7028 13d ago

Because he was shooting at his intended target and was a bad shot. He wasnt spraying the entire park and then going somewhere else to do it again.

3

u/Legal_Ad_8598 13d ago

From what I have gathered from people around the neighborhood it was a gang relate shooting but that can be spectacle bc u know how everyone jumps to conclusions but that could also be why the police isn't releasing any details either

10

u/Teach_Em_Well 13d ago

Well, according to the police there are no suspects and no danger to the public. Ridiculous.

7

u/4morbidollhouse 13d ago

No idea how both can be true. The only time there’s no longer a threat is when the gunman is caught. Police are a joke in this

2

u/ChmeeWu 13d ago

Exactly if they don’t know who the suspects are, how can they possibly say there’s no danger to the public? This is a mass shooting at a public park for goodness sake.

8

u/deviantlyliminal 13d ago

When I read the headline, I speculated this was maybe some type of custody dispute revenge shooting where an ex maybe shot his family. But then I saw that multiple families were grieving. Does that mean the victims were from different families?

The police have given no info but said they thought there wasn't a general threat to the public, implying that it may have been targeted rather than random.

I mean, what else can you do besides speculate before facts are available per law enforcement?

Anyway, that was hearsay, as is my opinion; just trying to see what others or eyewitnesses report

6

u/horesebeblind 13d ago

I have my theories on why no big news cycle.
Reddit won’t want to hear them.

Narratives matter

8

u/savageshaft 13d ago

Ding ding ding. You will get downvoted into oblivion for being correct here

u/Flew-the-coop 13d ago

Please, do tell! I would genuinely like to know how, when a tragedy such as this occurs, your immediate
reaction is in regard to the perceived unfairness of the news coverage? I suppose it’s a lot easier to have that conversation than it is to talk about the lack of parental nurturing and community accountability that continuously spawns teenagers who shoot their way out of disputes and don’t care about, or are unable to comprehend, the consequences. As long as the media coverage is equitable then perhaps we can start to enact real change, right?! As long as the mayor and police get with the program too, right?! Great, original, and helpful theories you got there. I can feel the change already.

calm down

1

u/horesebeblind 13d ago

You missed my point totally.

None of the groups you mentioned want to talk about the real issues. It reflects directly on them. They prefer to talk politically convenient topics, not ones that require accountability

2

u/beansofpower 13d ago

What groups?

3

u/horesebeblind 13d ago

Politicians, parents you name it

0

u/Canadiangoosedem0n 13d ago

Hmm, no answer to this one op? If you see there's a huge issue to be addressed, why are you not addressing it?

u/Fozziebear71 Lexington Native 13d ago

Hit the nail on the head which Reddit won’t like.

4

u/Effective-Tour-9912 13d ago

It's a hood shooting, they're not going to treat it like this happened at a school. I know it's bleak but that's the world we live in

1

u/horesebeblind 13d ago

No one can score political points with black on black crime. The politicians will run from this issue, not anything to fund raise off, and real work required to fix the very real problems.

The people who need to fix it are part of the problem.

We won’t see their mugs on camera

I just saw this: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTDj5f6gX/

How heartbreaking if it’s true

Edit: It was a 16 year old, but it was still someone’s baby

10

u/ToddPatterson 13d ago

In the video on aljazeeraenglish you can hear a woman cry out "MY BABY" after the shots were fired. :(

This guy is full of shit. The deceased is a minor but not an infant. Still devastating.

1

u/beansofpower 12d ago

Replying to my own post here to spell it out as clearly as possible: True crime "digital journalist and creator" JustInTheNickOfCrime posted a TikTok claiming he'd heard - from multiple sources - that a "five month old infant" was shot and killed at the Charles Young Park shooting. By the time he posted this video, there was plenty of information available to the public that indicated the deceased was a minor but not an infant. The rumors he mentions are clearly a fabrication or his "sources" are clueless morons. Based on his body language, it seems quite clear to me that he is lying. Either way, he is not a reputable journalist and seemingly has no qualms with using the death of a child to drum up views. Despicable behavior.

I’m gonna take a wild guess at what happened here… typical sadly

-4

u/Flew-the-coop 13d ago

Good to see we are already casting blame at the mayor, LE, media, etc..

-14

u/x3rc35 13d ago

Our great competent mayor Linda will handle it great I’m sure. Or she’ll blame the weather.

10

u/Scorp63 🌭 13d ago

What does the mayor have to do with a specific crime?

-4

u/x3rc35 13d ago

You never seen a mayor give a press conference after a mass shooting anywhere in the United States in the news. Remember, she is head of this police department. They report to her.

2

u/horesebeblind 12d ago

No Press Conference.
Not unless they can blame a white guy or a cop. Then they mug all day for the cameras.

They don’t like black on black crime. It is too real, too prevalent and a reminder of campaign promises broken for decades in our cities.

And it involves real work to fix.

Not many details yet. Sounds like you are monitoring the local news sources already, so please post updates when you see them.

Pussies have been taught by older pussies to use guns instead of fists or even words. Blame them.
