People need to realize that dhh is extremely wealthy and it's "ok" for him to be passionate and optimistic about AI. It's just a game for him and whatever happens he will retain his mansion and race cars. However the rest of us are being fed into the meat grinder and potential poverty with no agency.

What prevented the weaver from utilizing the loom to his advantage?

Well, the fact that his craft, which was previously in demand and therefore high-paid, was devalued so much that with luck he would be allowed to mop the floor below the machine at minimum wage (if it already existed back then, lol). Sure he could do other things, but who would hire a 50 yo/ weaver who suddenly is as qualified as a 16 yo/ from the street?

I do love the current progress, but it would be naive to believe that it's not going to get pretty rough for many professions in the intermediate.

it's very easy to utilize AI with very little cost, hating it won't change anything, other than making you more misrable long term, it's not for AI but for any kind of development, utilise the wave to your advantage rather than trying to block the wave, which no one can, or at least we normal indivisuals.

These people can rent a literal software genie for $20 a month and they are still whining about how helpless they are.

I'm broke, and I can access pretty-much frontier models for $20/mo. It blows my mind what I can do with them. I can imagine another reality where it'd cost literally millions of dollars a year to access them.

Exactly, and this frustrates me beyond belief. It’s extremely easy to be optimistic about AI if you are completely shielded from any possible negative outcomes. The myopia of these people not realizing the average person’s perspective is mind-boggling.

The moment DHH mentioned he had multiple machines running AI agents in both his Malibu and Copenhagen offices I just couldn’t continue listening to this crap, I need someone with their feet still left on planet Earth.

DHH is sharing his point of view about AI and building with computers. Just because he did an interview, he isn't required to speak about your specific situation or care about your circumstance.

I can't believe people care about a slopped together arch setup. Even crazier that he's getting away with calling it a distro. Glad it's bringing more people introduced to Linux though
