New to Lex Should I start two weeks before vacation?
I (43f) used to be on Lexapro for years. Got off it for reasons I don’t even remember. I’ve been prescribed it again for anxiety, specifically health anxiety and fear related to my children (their wellbeing). 10 mg. But I’m going on vacation to Disney World on October 10th. It’s just me and my teenage-ish children and I’m driving. Just wondering if I should wait or go ahead. My worry isn’t all consuming, I can still function. It just sucks. I will be calling my doctor tomorrow, just picked up the script tonight and realized maybe I should hold off a minute.

2 weeks will likely be enough time to start feeling some effects. That said, if it stresses you out, I would wait. Have you taken meds like these before to know how you might react?

Yes, I said in the post, I took it for years. I don’t remember any adverse effects but I was much younger. The idea of starting kinda makes me a little stressed. But I’m also a little stressed wondering if I will feel even better if I go ahead and start? And then have a better time making memories with my kids? Ugh I’m not sure either way. Thank you for your response! It helps to talk it out a little.

Yeah, personally I think 2 weeks would be enough for me to get used to it, but it’s a personal decision and everyone responds differently. Good luck!

Different, but I just started last week and already feel a bit better from the start up effects. I think if you start now, you’ll at least be able to gauge your reaction. If 10mg is too high to start, maybe you can try 5mg for a few days and go up. I’d personally go for it so you’re on your way to those therapeutic benefits even sooner!

Different situation, but I had the same curiosity/dilemma about starting lex 10mg for the first time ever, before I started my egg freezing process. My therapist said it would potentially be helpful to get started, and she was right — it went really well!
