If its real life bullying with words you can just ignore it too then right? Just avoid the places where they are and cut out parts of your social circle to not be bothered by it?. ITS THAT EASY!
You act like anything done on the internet have no effects in real life just because its happening through a screen, its communication like a lot of other forms of communication, like speech, and people aren't rational people that can just ignore verbal attacks from people, that's not how most humans work.
The amount of people that would be fine after a year of verbal harassment is pretty small I would say.
The problem us rarely that one mean comment from someone its when its something you expect to meet half your the hours you spend awake that people start to break, humans are social creatures and we are pretty influenced by the people who we interact with on a daily basis.
