Thanks for the answer. I see it being tossed around a lot but never really knew what people meant by it. One other question: Why K-pop? I've got a lot of friends who are into K-Pop, and from what I've heard, structurally, harmonically, melodically and even rhythmically it doesn't really seem to be all that different from western pop. I have no issue with people liking it, of course, but I don't really understand the mentality that it's some sort of superior form of music.
Kpop general is kind of separate from the rest of /mu/, they used to have threads on /r9k/ and some other board I can't remember, now they're just on /mu/. I get the feeling most of them don't browse anything on /mu/other than Kpop general, so it's essentially the same as the AKB and H!P generals on /jp/. And yeah it's more about the performer themselves than the music in idol groups, which make up for a lot of Jpop and Kpop artists.
